The Road to Roswell, by Connie Willis. Very, very funny. Sensible Francie's going to be the maid of honor at her college roommate's wedding, at the UFO Museum in Roswell. Not long after she arrives, she goes out to fetch something from a car and... finds herself kidnapped by an alien. An alien shaped like a tumbleweed, who is desperate for Francie to drive it somewhere. Where? That's not clear. They end up on a madcap road trip that had me laughing out loud again and again. Definitely recommended.

That sounds hysterical! Reminds me of an art project I did when I went out and collected tumbleweeds, LOL!!!

It's quite a story! I haven't seen a tumbleweed up close, only through the car window from a distance.

Well, I've spent almost all of my life on the coast, in the valley, in cities, and in forests - so not a lot of tumbleweed time.

In the city where I grew up, south of San Diego, there was field we had to walk thru to elementary school for a substantial shortcut and when the celery wasn't growing it was often full of tumbleweeds, in the city, LOL!

The one time I visited San Diego as a teenager we went to a mall in Chula Vista (among other things). I am sure I can't imagine why!

I went all over the place by myself when I was a kid...

I think I know what mall you are talking about as there was only one back then, (I think). There was a Sears there. And a Marstons that got changed to The Broadway that probably now is a Macys, if still there. How funny you went there!
