Barrayar, by Lois McMaster Bujold. Vorkosigan Saga #2. This is the immediate sequel to Shards of Honor (in terms of story-world chronology); Cordelia surmounts many problems in her quest to become a mother. She's already pregnant when the story begins, but considerable complications ensue. A fine action-adventure story. Now I'll have to leave her point of view for quite a while, but Miles is definitely fun.
