Hester, by Laurie Lico Albanese. I read it again because of our book club meeting tomorrow - although with all this smoke in the sky, I'm not sure we'll meet after all. Until the evening, the sky was yellow and unpleasant but the particulate levels were okay - it's worse now. The benefit of the smoke was that the super-hot weather did not happen! It was only 100° or 101°, not 109°.

Right, it might be good to postpone to a more agreeable time?
So thankful it will not be 109!
