The Pacific Northwest is truly blessed. The rest of the country has all sorts of weather crises, and (aside from our new "wildfire season" in late summer), we're just doing fine. -New England is flooding, and much of the southern half of the country is expecting one of those horrific heat domes. Meanwhile, it was about 80F here today, and tomorrow it'll be 84F, and the air quality is still fine, and there's nary a cloud in the sky.

I had lunch at the Bier Stein with J, DG, and JC - the latter's family returns from South Dakota on Wednesday. Then they all went off to play Magic, and I went home and read outside a while, then worked on the project of excavating my poor Altissimo rose and my apple tree from the blackberries. It's going to take a lot more work.

I was thinking the same thing about the PacNorWest being free of the crazy weather crisis. Yes, fires but not crazy things like other places.
I hope it can last!

America sounds like a wild place, weather-wise!

Tornados, fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, blizzards, drought! We've really only got drought.

I think some of your coastal areas are quite flat too. If I'm at the coast at my dad (and typical for most of the country), I can walk 2km from the beach, and I'll be at a higher elevation that anywhere in the state of Florida.

There ought to be quite a bit of warning, at least.
