Day 1197: Hot weather
Jun. 30th, 2023 11:52 pmToday was nearly 90, and it's going to get warmer. I learned my lesson about getting exercise when it's warm, and today I made a point to stay indoors until early evening. Then I went outside to read, and it felt great - I soaked up the heat for a while then switched to another chair in the shade.
We watched a lame movie for this week's Friday movie: Rock-a-Doodle. Then J focused on completing a two-month challenge for his game club, and he did it - he finished Pokemon Soulsilver with 55 minutes to spare, using only blue Pokemon. (Every player was assigned a color. Blue meant that he had to "walk" the long way between towns rather than getting to teleport, so that took a lot of time.)
Meanwhile, today D. completed his first week as a "learning assistant" for a beginning computer science class. His job was to hold two-hour sessions of office hours on Zoom every day this week. No students showed up until today, when he finally got to help someone! Three more weeks of this, then four weeks off, then he'll do it again for a different class.

Date: 2023-07-05 06:53 am (UTC)We were surprisingly comfortable at 97F this evening, but it helps that I make a point not to go outside until at least 4:30 pm when it's not so bright and there's usually a good breeze. We are just going to enjoy it until the wildfire smoke - fingers crossed for another two months before that starts.
