Day 1171: A forest of poison oak
Jun. 4th, 2023 11:05 pmToday seemed kind of excessively full of tasks, but in the early evening I drove over to the neighborhood school to look at the woods. J reminded me that these particular woods are especially full of poison oak, so I was extra-careful not to brush against the plants overhanging the narrow trail. Here's the woods, mostly douglas-fir:

And here's what it looks like away from the trail. Everything in this photo is poison oak, excepting the actual trees (and the bit of grass in the foreground):

Most of the spring wildflowers were done. I saw several brodiaeas, a bit of the big purple vetch and a small yellow vetch, one wild rose, and a healthy patch of something I can't remember at the edge of the woods. Here's a brodiaea surrounded by healthy, glossy poison oak leaves:
