Day 1166: Book club
May. 30th, 2023 11:50 pmTonight was the book club meeting for Rules for Visiting, but the first hour was all of us admiring the remodel of T’s house and then chatting outside about random topics. The remodel was really quite impressive – they streamlined areas where space had been wasted and structured the rest of the space better, such that even though they actually added a new wall as part of the project, the overall effect is much more spacious.
Also, I realized that Hester is probably a perfect book for this group. It’ll satisfy the women who want social justice themes and literary quality, while not feeling burdensome for those of us who are content with a fairly gentle story about a young woman creating a place for herself in the world. So I guess I’m hosting book club next month.
