Day 1152: Delgani evening
May. 16th, 2023 11:51 pmWhat with all the pollen, my sleep's been a bit iffy the last few days. I wake up after six hours of sleep, have to sit upright a bit to fix my sinuses, and then may or may not get back to sleep properly. Today I was kind of out of it all day.
However, by 7 pm I realized that I felt no worse than if I had a cold, so I decided to go ahead and go to the Delgani concert. The pieces were a short and appealing work by Jennifer Higdon, a piece by Mozart (his "dissonance" quartet), and the lovely and wonderful string quartet by Ravel (which they'd also played back in 2016). And although it was rather warm in the room, I was okay overall.
I mentioned back in March that after the last concert, our fancy celebrity violinist had sent me the first chapter of her book, and I'd sent her a bunch of feedback. Well, actually I'd sent her rather more feedback than she was probably expecting, and she didn't respond, and I thought, oops, I should have asked first. So after today's concert I started to apologize, and no, she cut me off, all enthusiastic, saying how helpful it was and how she'd rewritten it after that and then showed it to more people and rewrote it more, etc. Whew.
