Affective Ecologies: Empathy, Emotion, and Environmental Narrative, by Alexa Weik von Mossner. Scott Slovic was right - this book is right up my alley. I read most of its extensive endnotes too, and now I need to go back and take notes. Weik von Mossner is writing about the way we engage with written text and film, and the extent that doing so might influence what we then go do in real life. The one thing she doesn't explicitly address is that people who choose to read a book or watch a film are pretty much a self-selected crowd, except for school assignments.
