Day 1145: Warming weather
May. 9th, 2023 11:57 pmToday was the first day in an increasingly warm week; we expect 94 on Sunday, which will not be great!, but today it was 73, which was just lovely (and much warmer than yesterday). On my way home from the library I did an impromptu walk in an interesting little neighborhood that I'd only explored once before, just southwest of the old library and east of the fairgrounds. I saw... attractive and sometimes architecturally interesting houses that often had inviting covered porches, numerous flowers - mostly scilla but also lilacs and iris, a little snake, an old VW van sitting on a lawn, and a homemade fountain.
After I got home, I turned on the water feature and ate some risotto outside for lunch, then read a while. Then I put the cats inside and did some mowing. I still haven't managed to have all of our lawns mowed at once - the fact that we have only one mower battery now, with only a 20-minute charge, is quite a limitation. Prices have gone up for the batteries, too - it would cost about $120 to buy another one. I remember them being $50-709ish before.
