Day 1135: Networking and newts
Apr. 29th, 2023 10:37 pmThis afternoon I got to have an hour of fantastic get-acquainted conversation with Paul Slovic and Scott Slovic, at our neighborhood bar (where they weren't charged for their lemonades - we got free use of a table and beverages!). They're both impressive scholars whos interests overlap with mine - Paul's famous for his work in the psychology of mass violence, and Scott's a leader in ecocriticism. They're actually both my neighbors, too - Paul bought a house almost a mile south back in 1964, and Scott is even closer, having moved back to the neighborhood during the pandemic, though he's still teaching remotely for a bit longer.
Then J and I read outside a bit, then we walked down to the park to look for the newts and found five of them, including these three. And then we read outside 'til it got cold, and now we're cozy inside. Today's high was something like 82, but now we're in for a week or more of cooler weather and more rain.
