Day 1111: Wednesday doings
Apr. 5th, 2023 11:53 pmThankfully, J. and I were just fine today, and I got a bunch done. I worked for hours on that paper, finished that book (which I'll write about tomorrow), and attended (online) a talk about climate change communication. I also did two relatively unexpected things!
1. I went out for driving practice with D, probably 18 months or more since the last time he practiced. He's relearning about things like accelerator and break sensitivity, making smooth turns, and the width of the car.
2. We watched Makoto Shinkai's first full-length movie, The Place Promised in Our Early Days. Lovely to look at, and the plot was predictably peculiar. The first strange premise was that after World War II, Japan had been partitioned, and Hokkaido was under control of the Soviet Union. The second strange premise was that a scientist up there had built a thing that looked like a space elevator but actually generated multiverses or something, which were linked to his granddaughter's dreams.
