Day 1095: Sanditon speculations

I've been impressed with how well they've done at writing inclusivity into the Sanditon miniseries while still staying true to the Austen spirit. The mixed-race heiress Georgiana Lambe is played by a Black actress, which matches the book just fine, as Austen does describe her as "mulatto" (I read it last week). The lovely Arthur Parker, Georgiana's best friend, is obviously either gay or asexual (or both, though he could just be gay and shy and virginal). And handsome Alexander Colburn's young daughter prefers to dress as male, or at least she did last season when we met her.

I'm now halfway through the first episode of season three, which will conclude the story, and here are my speculations.
Obviously, our main character Charlotte Heywood will end up with Colburn, and presumably in a way that won't too severely hurt the young fellow she happens to be engaged to. It will be fun to see us get there.

Before I started watching the episode, my grandest prediction beyond that involved Georgiana's last-season suitor, Charles Lockhart. He originally courted her to get to her fortune, but I think he sincerely fell in love with her, and I'm speculating that this season he'll redeem himself by locating and returning with her long-lost mother.

However! This new season introduced a gay duke, whose mother sent him off to woo Georgiana for her money, and in the last scene I watched, the two of them became friends - they each need someone to appear to be with, for social reasons. But... could it be that they've actually brought in a love interest for Arthur? That vastly exceeds my wildest hopes!
