Day 1093: Organ music for Lent
Mar. 18th, 2023 11:50 pmThe local organ society has resumed its Lenten concerts on Saturdays at the neighborhood Episcopal church, and they're generally enjoyable even though (a) the organ can be very loud, especially in a relatively small space, and (b) many of the organists are not professional musicians. That was the case today, but I still enjoyed it, generally. The first organist played relatively new pieces, written by composers born between 1870 and 1954, and I felt like she had fine taste. The second played the familiar Stabat Mater by Pergolesi and a Sonata by Mendelssohn. There were fewer than 20 of us there, and I was definitely the youngest except for the priest and a younger man.
I made a bit of progress on the blackberry vines, and entered quite a few schools into my spreadsheet - maybe I can finish that tomorrow? I am feeling behind on so many things... nothing that truly matters, though, I suppose?
