Day 1074: Slush, falling from the sky

As I drove downtown around 5 pm, there were the most impressive cumulus clouds in the west, right on the horizon. We ate dinner at the Taphouse, as we do on Mondays, and I walked with J and DG to their Magic event and then went to the library for a while. It was almost 7 pm when I drove home, and for the last mile it had finally started to rain.

I fed all the cats and got Azalyn indoors; Ambrose had wandered off but showed up three hours later, so he's safely inside too. We've compromised with them and made them indoor-outdoor cats, which makes them happier than being indoors 24/7. Anyway, then I walked over to Safeway for milk and mushrooms, and I took my umbrella, as it was raining moderately hard with snow mixed in. When I got there, it was like this:



A bit of snow did accumulate, though there was rain in it all the while.

That's a great photo. It really captures the miserable snow-rain mix.

Re the cats, ours were indoor/outdoor. As Azalyn and Ambrose get more used to living indoors, they'll probably spend more time there as they get older, especially when the weather is bad. But cats do like to roam, which is why I won't have cats any more. Our house is too small for totally indoor cats and there's too much traffic on the road past the front of the house now.

Today he found that they were less interested in going outside when he got up, though t they're out now. He thinks the toys we found for them are making a big difference.

It sure looks wet, doesn't it? That little building I'm facing is the vet's office, and I'm right outside the Safeway, in a dry spot.
