Trivia night
Aug. 21st, 2024 11:53 pmFor a new social activity at my work, we got to go to trivia night at a relatively new neighborhood bar. I'd had a headache all day (probably dehydration from digestive upset from yesterday's stress), but I really wanted to go, and by the time it was done I'd drunk enough water that I felt reasonably okay. J and I drove there about 20 minutes early so we could order food - it was some sort of Australian style sandwiches plus pizza (the restaurant/bar has an Australia-inspired name). There's also a Thai food truck directly outside, and the restaurant generously lets people bring their Thai orders into the restaurant too.
I only recognized three of the people who work at the same place as me - the Belgian woman who organized the event, a very amiable woman I've known for years named Lisa, and our science coordinator. Lisa and her boyfriend and their neighbor, along with a coworker I hadn't previously met and her husband, were all on the same team with J and myself. We did pretty well, although a couple of teams who are probably regulars did slightly better. The categories were, hm, Current Events, Commonly Misspelled Words (a much too easy category), a category on recognizing actors from photos where they're in old-age makeup, a category with a secret common factor (rhyming answers, like Famous Amos and Blues Clues), a category of naming a U.S. state from a list of several films set there, and a music category that also had a secret common factor. Everyone on our team contributed at least something, which was great!
