Tonight on my walk, I acquired... a poem
Feb. 22nd, 2010 09:50 pmYou know those vertical-box-on-a-stick things outside houses for sale? Where the real estate agents put lots of copies of the house's specs, so that passersby can take the info home with them? On my after-dark walk this evening (east on 43rd, past the middle school but before Fox Hollow), I came across one of those, incongruously labelled, "Free Poems." I stopped and learned that this was a "Poetry Cache," full of copies of a poem, a service random strangers were "providing to the community." So I reached in and acquired my own copy of a poem by Marianne Boruch. I carried it in my hand like a scroll, and when I came to the point where I planned to turn back, I stopped and read it beneath the warm amber street light.
( 'My Son and I Go See Horses,' by Marianne Boruch )
"Poetry cache" - this makes me happy.
