We had to capture the kittens today, so they can go off for their little surgeries in the morning, and although it was a simple matter to pick up Ambrose and Azalyn and carry them to Jonathan's garage, where they are now quite comfortable, Tertius got wise to the project and said nope. We spent hours on it, and I can now report that he's terrified of the red light from the laser pointer. That light tried to trap him in a carrier box! Evil light! Both D. and J. were able to carry him most of the way up the driveway from my house, but when he saw the carrier he squirmed away. Eventually I tricked him with food. The poor dear is having to stay in the carrier overnight, though, as it would be impossible to capture him in the morning if I released him in the garage with his siblings.

In the middle of all that, I drove D. again to the urgent care, where they examined his finger, put a special bandage on it, and told him it's healing fine and to keep it dry. I was happily waiting in their lobby by myself (and occasionally the receptionist), watching a movie about an incognito prince romancing a small-town advertising executive, when a mom and her teen came in and told the receptionist the boy needed a COVID test. I didn't care for sitting six feet from someone who needed a COVID test, so I went outside in the light rain and stood around in the dark. I hadn't previously noticed that the restaurant where my mom liked the fried calamari has gone out of business, and the garish pink/purple building that used to sell "adult toys" is now a more somberly painted office for a dentist.

Anyway, to follow up on D's thoughts about going to Korea and what he would do otherwise, I found a major he could add with about one more year of study that would qualify him to enter the master's program to become a social studies teacher. (Jonathan asked, why social studies? It seemed obvious to me, since D. has zero interest in literature.) It would cost a bunch since his scholarship only covered the standard four years, but maybe he would still get financial aid.
