Day 578: Raptors
Oct. 16th, 2021 11:12 pmThis evening I got to join an online fundraiser event for our local raptor center. So far this year, they've had almost 600 birds admitted to their hospital, which is way, way more than usual. Poor birds! We got to "meet" several of their ambassadors, including a gyrfalcon named Olga, a western screech owl named Ravi, a lovely Swainson's hawk named Guapo (Spanish for handsome), a great horned owl named Lorax, and my Facebook friend Dmitri, an eagle-owl. We also saw video of a peregrine falcon being returned to the wild and a very cute new resident named Maple, a saw-whet owl.
Unfortunately, I have a migraine today, which the audio quality of the event made rather worse. I hope I'm done with that before concert week starts (Monday afternoon) and that I don't come down with S's cold.
