Day 565: Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit
Oct. 3rd, 2021 10:50 pmOur friend AA bought a copy at St. Vinnie's (charitable thrift shop) and wanted to play it in honor of her birthday (tomorrow), so they came over today and we had quite a lovely time. First we chatted a bit and saw photos of the tiny cemetery they'd visited in the morning, when it was misty and the spiderwebs were all beaded with dew, then we went to my front porch and played with the kittens. Ambrose was entirely happy to be pet by AA, and the other two would play with her at more of a distance. Then the four of us ate Mexican food for dinner - this was our first real social gathering with them inside the house since the pandemic - and it was all delicious, then we chatted more, then we played the game. (J. has owned this game for many years but never opened the box!)
The six categories were: things, good characters, evil characters, history and something, something about battles, and details about the making of the movie. Fortunately some of the questions were easy! We all stayed away from the details of the making of the movie, though, as it was extra-hard. (I tried it first and was asked what title Mark Ordesky had in the credits! Never heard of him. Later, though, the category had a question about which actor had been in The Goonies, which was easy.) We played for two hours and decided the next person to get a wedge would win, and happily it was AA.
D. returned from his dad's in mid-afternoon and I think has been spending the evening with his girlfriend, as he hadn't seen her since Thursday. I still felt unwell when I woke today but it hasn't mattered.
