I'm making some progress on the book I most need to get read (Berlyne 1971), but it's slow. Eventually J. and I went on a walk to the far side of the neighborhood park, then I ate dinner and finished watching this week's episode of Younger (only maybe 3 to go!).

Then we watched the Studio Ghibli version of When Marnie Was There. The two biggest differences between the movie and book (beyond moving it from Norfolk to Japan and all that goes with that) were that the book Marnie was way more messed up emotionally and that the movie gives a reasonably full theory for what's going on, whereas the book is ambiguous. J. also noticed that the movie is rather less linear than the book, and we both were startled when the movie Anna insulted the non-friend girl before the girl insulted her, rather than after. That was pretty jarring, actually.

But as always, it's such a pleasure visually to see the work of Studio Ghibli. In this one, they took as much care with the boats as with nature. I am sure I will want to watch it again.
