Day 518: BLUE skies, thank you
Aug. 16th, 2021 11:58 pmSo nice to have actual blue sky again - must not take it for granted! We're expecting a week of reasonably cool weather, too - highs in the upper 70s. Today I went to the university library for a couple of books that had come in for me, and after that I headed downtown to meet J. for dinner at the Taphouse, like we did last Monday. The idea was to eat dinner, ideally with DG, and then the two of them would play Magic at 6 pm, but J. didn't even get to the restaurant until 5:15 pm, and DG had cancelled as he hadn't even finished work until then. So we ordered, and J. was saying that he'd wished he'd told DG that dinner was a higher priority than Magic, and suddenly two women we knew appeared! It was J's recently retired coworkers Joanna and Cindy, emerging from the adjacent art-house movie theater, having decided they couldn't bear to watch all two-and-a-half hours of something called Annette. So we had them join us, and we had fun and entirely different conversations than we expected to get to have today.
