Day 498: Busy Monday (with... heraldry?!)
Jul. 26th, 2021 11:57 pmToday I took David for his allergy shot (and returned two library books), and we stopped at the Asian market on the way home so he could restock on Korean ramen. Meanwhile, J's friend JA had emailed us a puzzle game he needs help with, and we finally took a look. The first clue was...
Argent; a pale thrice cotised, within: in chief azure, a vampire’s head cabossed to dexter, a castle to sinister; in base gules, over which a hill [a color], over which (5 7) en arriere wielding a whip.In other words, the clue is written in the language of heraldry and describes some picture; the (5 7) refers to a five-letter word and a seven-letter word that are to be filled in when one recognizes it. And we did. It was the original Castlevania game! All 12 clues are video game covers. We figured out three more; and JA had already figured out five or six. I told D. about it when I got home tonight, and he wants to help.
