We are so glad to be back to regular Oregon summer weather. Ever since that "heat dome," it's been low- to mid-80s almost every day, and sunny, and nice. A few days were more like 90, but it's not humid, so if one stays mostly in the shade, that's fine too.

Today I worked on the purity paper, got J to go on a walk down to the park and back, and read outside with him too, until it was time for the Friday movie, which I skipped this time. It was an anime thriller, Perfect Blue, that sounded more violent and disturbing than I'd enjoy. While he did that, I worked on the blackberries, finally liberating that one rose bush, at least until next spring.

After the movie, I came back in and looked at the new Magic set with him, which this time is based on Dungeons & Dragons. I was skeptical, but it actually looks pretty reasonable. (And there are a LOT of dragons this time.)

Meanwhile, D. did his training for his new job, for about five hours, then got a tour of the mysterious back hallways and met everyone he should meet. Tomorrow he'll work 11-7, and Sunday 8-4, doing his actual new job. He's excited and looking forward to learning more about both business and bakery operations. Then he went out with his friends for "bubble tea" and eventually returned home with his nails painted black. (He thoughtfully texted me to make sure the scent wouldn't bother me. It won't, especially as I'm not going to go sniffing at them. It sure makes Sorin blink, though.) I hope nobody at his new job will mind - he says it will help him to keep from chewing at them, a habit he deliberately adopted years ago because his dad does it.
