Day 445: Book club
Jun. 3rd, 2021 11:59 pmTonight was my first in-person book club attendance since last summer - they'd met the last two months without me, but now I'm fully vaccinated too and could join. We have a new member who emigrated from Poland to the UK in 1980 and eventually ended up in Eugene. The conversation was quite animated! It sounds like we'll be reading a Malcolm Gladwell book for next time, and AC wants me to have movie night be The Secret of Roan Inish, and JS may teach several of us to knit. I've learned to knit twice, so it shouldn't be too hard to learn again; maybe eventually it will stick?
Also today, I took D. in for his allergy shot, and as usual I parked at the clinic then walked the 7 blocks to the library to return some books. I was just headed back to the clinic when D. phoned - they hadn't allowed him to get his shot today, because the grass pollen levels are so high. It's annoying. They do this every June, and he isn't even allergic to grass, and they could have told him this when he'd phoned to make the appointment. Oh well.
Anyway, he has only two more assignments due in spring term, then he's off from school until late September. He wants to get a summer job but hasn't started applying anywhere yet...
