Day 439: Car-color shopping

eve_primeToday J. and I went over to the Toyota dealership to see what "Blueprint," "Midnight Black," and "Galactic Aqua Mica" look like in person. They were all much sparklier than I had imagined! The photos of "Blueprint" generally look like a drab dark blue, but it was actually quite eye-catching without being too bright. "Midnight Black" was also sparkly - if you get up close to it in sunlight, you can see blue, gold, green, and even purple specks. And "Galactic Aqua Mica" lived up to its billing. In shade it looks basically black, but in full sunlight, it's a sparkly dark teal-green. As J. put it - it's like looking at deep space, filled with stars, yet... under water. The main downside would be if you had to call AAA for emergency roadside service, and they asked you what color the car was; you can't really reduce it to green or black.
We spent long enough at the car place that we missed out on ordering dinner from Plank Town; we wouldn't have been home in time for the Friday movie. Instead, we drove home (after looking for the trailhead for the new Mill Race Path, but it would have been too far) and arrived with 5 minutes to spare, and ordered Thai food.
Then we watched this week's movie. The streamer who hosts the movie had finished playing the Phoenix Wright game this week, so we watched Ace Attorney, a Japanese live-action film that essentially tells the same story as the game. That was some movie! If they'd kept the same campy tone throughout, it could have been great, but as it was, it was a strange combination of cheesy and serious, even horror at times. Quite interesting visually, though.
We have a lot to get done this three-day weekend; we may not get back to the car-buying project. We'll see. I need to get the grant proposal into good shape, and we need to do a year's worth of tidying at J's house before our friends come over (and inside!!!) on Monday.
