Day 377: Sunburn in March!
Mar. 27th, 2021 09:35 pmToday's first highlight was an in-person sword class for J! We went to the covered reservoir atop College Hill and met up with his fellow students and the instructors, and he did two hours of sword exercises! I had brought a folding chair and made myself comfortable. I did some reading and also took some photos, with encouragement from our head swordmaster, who wanted some to post. Hours later, I discovered my right arm, right lower leg, and chest immediately below my throat are red from sunburn. I seldom get sunburnt, let alone in mild weather, but I guess I seldom sit in direct sun for two hours either.

In the past, I'd mostly only been atop the reservoir at night, for star parties - it's a great spot to set up telescopes. I do remember being up there one afternoon when a family was doing a science project, but few others were up there then. So it was interesting to see what people do with the space in daytime - mostly skating and skateboarding. Three older guys were using the adjacent lawn as their own personal miniature golf course, too.
After getting home, I continued reading outside, then at 6 pm J. got to have a Zoom conversation with his three childhood J-friends. I joined in, too, as did JM's girlfriend. Fun! We'd ordered from Agate Alley, which had the squash enchiladas on the menu again, which made me happy. Now J's started a new videogame, based on the Record of Lodoss War anime. It's pretty, and I think he's having fun, but it's not tremendously interesting to watch.
