Today J. and I pre-registered for the vaccine; D. did it a few days ago. It sounds like the way it works will be that when we're eligible, we'll get an email telling us about our options for times and sites, then we can go. I also read somewhere that Safeway has a contract to get the vaccine, so maybe we'll only have to walk half a block! My friends N and MS (a lesbian couple at least 5 years older than I) were walking past my house when I went to check the mail, so I chatted with them some; they'd just gotten the first vaccine recently and were looking forward to travel starting in mid-April. They're planning to go to Moab (Utah) and then to Iowa, where they'll visit family, and it sounds like their cat will go with them. They were saying that Biden was going to announce at 5 pm today that everyone will be eligible for the vaccine starting May 1, but I haven't checked the news so I don't know for sure about that.

Other things today: I visited the UO library and got an article and a book, and I bought nice bread on the way home. Francesco didn't show up for his weekly watch party, and as there hasn't been one since February 4 and since this was the first week when he wasn't obviously scheduled to be elsewhere, I had hoped it would happen, so that was disappointing. On the other hand, we may get to briefly see J's sword master in person on Saturday, as he's planning to drive around handing out "arming swords" for practice. That's a one-handed sword for use with a buckler in the other hand.

Oh, also, the magnolia behind the house - which is at least two-thirds dead - decided to bloom this year! Big, gorgeous blooms. Last year it set the buds but they all died before blooming. I figured it the tree died the rest of the way, I'd take it out and plan to have my new patio go that far, but it's won its reprieve.
