Day 337: Monday stuff
Feb. 15th, 2021 11:50 pmToday I woke to learn that OUP is tentatively interested in my book! That is, they were tentatively interested before, and now they're more interested, though still tentatively. So that's good. They've sent me their external reviews of my proposal, and I can respond.
My excitement about this was rather dampened, though - one of J's friends at work (a greatly admired woman who was one of his first supervisors) has been abruptly and very unexpectedly laid off. On Friday we learned that his current boss had been let go as of March 2, which was a shock, then we learned that something like 10% of employees were laid off, but it was utterly shocking to learn that his presumably indispensable friend was among them.
For our Monday exercise class taught by J's sword master, J and I were the only students, and we had fun talking with him about other topics, including my book and current politics.
I started a new class today, taught by the Delgani String Quartet. This one's on 20th century composers, which is less interesting to me than the previous class topics (Beethoven and Romantics), and I almost didn't sign up. Then I gave myself permission to multitask (it's on Zoom, with no requirement to show our faces), and I ended up liking the first session just fine anyway.
