The Chessmen, by Peter May. This is the third in the Isle of Lewis series; we learn more about Fin's social life as a teen and young adult, especially his friendship with a gifted and difficult man called Whistler. At the end, Fin finally has a sense of purpose for his life going forward, and I'd be interested in hearing more of what happens, but May is done writing about it.
