First, there was waking up to yet another day with no news from a publisher, though it's very much an any-day-now thing. Oh well, could have been bad news.

Then there was the discovery that the reviewer I'm especially frustrated with apparently endorses some problematic understanding of something fundamental to my work (and hers) - I'm tempted to just call her on it and assume my paper will get rejected. It's not due for another 5+ weeks, though, so I have time to change my mind.

Then there was the Delgani concert. I spent much of the early evening watching all the rest of the preparatory lectures, and I was especially looking forward to the second "half" with the Schubert cello quintet. In the first half, the first piece was very nice, but the second was a lot of work (Webern), and the third (Stravinsky) was okay but not exactly beautiful. So I'd "earned" the Schubert. But they went offstage for intermission, and an hour later they hadn't come back! The viewer counter was changing, and my internet was fine, so I assumed they just weren't there. Then I refreshed... and they'd been playing for a while. SO FRUSTRATING. I wish they had some constantly moving object on stage, like a clock with a second hand, so the viewers at home could have some clue that the image had frozen up. Oh well. I can certainly watch it later, but I invested all that time in waiting, and my house was so nicely quiet, with D. out and the cats all calm.
