eve_primeSecrets and Lies, by Selena Montgomery, better known as Stacey Abrams. Ms. Abrams is a politician, attorney, and voting rights activist in Georgia, and as we owe her greatly for her work to ensure that Georgia's citizens could vote in the recent special election (which gave the Senate to the Democrats), I thought it would be fun for our book club to read one of the romance novels she's written in her spare time. (How do these people even have spare time?)
It's definitely a fun book. Our protagonist is a Black/Latina ethnobotanist who discovers her dying uncle and finds herself on the run with an honorable thief, who had appeared in two of her previous books. The author doesn't use the word "homeopathy" correctly and makes a very basic mistake in Spanish, but the characters and their budding relationship were appealing.
