The Buzz Lightyear party
Jul. 30th, 2005 11:49 pmLast year, within a week after his dinosaur party, D. declared that he wanted the next one to be a Buzz Lightyear party, and so it was. (Be it herein noted that he says he wants The Incredibles for next year, and "conifer trees" (!) for the one after that.) We had a beautiful Buzz cake, Buzz tablecloth and plates and cups and napkins and mylar balloons, etc. But the best part, I think everyone would agree, was my nearly last-minute inspiration: We shot off a rocket!
Yesterday morning I went downtown and bought a preassembled Estes rocket. I hadn't done anything like that since Model Rocketry Club in junior high, and after reading the instructions today, I was a bit intimidated. I called SG, the dad of one of the guests, and he was quite willing to help, and everything went fine. We launched it in the middle of the big field in the park.
It was so cool! FOOM! Up it went, and the kids ran shrieking after it! We did it twice!
