The Fourth
Jul. 4th, 2005 10:37 pmFirst, shopping, lots of shopping. Then a late barbecued lunch: cheeseburgers, watermelon, doritos. Then lots of reading, Kim, in the dappled afternoon sun. Later, dinner at my mom's, outside, six of us (me, R., D., my mom, my sister, and K's husband). Then we came home and took away Robin's food (oral surgery tomorrow), which finally, ironically, revitalized his appetite; he's begging/cuddling at this very moment. Finally, around 9:20 p.m., fireworks. We did the usual in our driveway, and there were wonderful (illegal) aerial ones to the west of us, too, framed by the silhouettes of neighborhood trees in the twilight. My favorite of the ones we got this year was "Purple Rain." I always love the ones with purple globes of color among a fountain of wild orange streaks.
