eve_prime: (easter egg)

Earlier this week, my new friend CH told me she’d bought two tickets to a concert today and invited me to go with her. The concert sounded great, but… Easter! On the one hand, I thought it would be wonderful to hear the music, and see the four musicians (of whom I know two well enough to stand around chatting with a while), and spend some time with CH. On the other hand, April is perhaps my worst month for allergies, and although I could schedule all of our Easter activities for after the concert, I would also need the energy to do them. I told CH, earlier in the week, that I couldn’t commit to it, but if I woke up feeling well I might buy my own ticket and join her and whoever else had gone with her.

I woke up feeling somewhat okay, and I’d slept better than usual, but then I realized it was really bright and sunny – and going out in the full sunshine and then listening to a concert in a small venue was very likely going to lead to migraine problems. So I stayed home instead. It sounded like she had recruited her husband to go with her, and they were going to bike there, which sounded so nice!

This year, although we’d bought 18 new plastic eggs, and I thought J (sorry, I mean the Easter Bunny) was going to hide those eggs, in fact he found all the other plastic eggs he could locate and ended up hiding… 42 of them! D and S came over, and we all looked at what the Easter Bunny had brought in our baskets, then we hunted for eggs. D found the most, by far. J’s flowerbeds are overgrown with weeds and grass, especially at this time of year, so he can hide lots there, as well as in the lawn, and in other, more creative places. Eventually we had found 40 and gave up. J had followed my advice and photographed each egg as he placed it, but he photographed the locations from too close up and they couldn’t be recognized! Ha! Eventually we organized all the eggs and compared them with his “before” photo to see which two were missing, and he found a photo that corresponded to the more blatantly colored of those, and after much more searching, D located it. Meanwhile, he and S had played catch with the plastic eggs for quite a while, which was entertaining to watch.

Then they left, and I started making Easter dinner, and around 6:15 D returned, and the three of us ate. S ate Easter dinner with her mom. We chatted for a couple of hours, at the table. After we were basically done eating, I realized that I’d forgotten to serve the potatoes, which I’d roasted with the chicken. Good grief.

So, I was allergic and spacy (having spent more than an hour and a half outside), but I didn’t get a headache and was in a fine mood. It’s too bad the concert wasn’t a different day, but since it was on Easter I’m glad I stayed home.

I love the title of your post, hee hee.

I hate how allergies can make one feel spacey.
