The Ministry for the Future, by Kim Stanley Robinson. I've never read any of his books before, and I was a little apprehensive about reading an acclaimed work of near-future climate fiction. I should not have worried - it was highly readable and entertaining. I've never read a work of fiction with that much economics and finance in it, either, and somehow he pulls it off. I definitely recommend it.

I was quite tired today, with a mild sore throat and seasonal breathing issues, so I was not ambitious. I watched a pleasant Hallmark movie about a genealogist finding love while saving the life of her gay best friend by locating his biological father to be his bone marrow donor. I also attended an online talk by the author Silvia Moreno-Garcia about negotiating for other media rights when signing book contracts - I'd missed her Eugene talk so it was fun to see her.

Meanwhile, the new Magic set came out. J and DG played at the Springfield store, then had a dinner at J's favorite Springfield restaurant, then came home briefly to pick up a Covid test for DG, who also had a mild sore throat. I didn't see them, but they saw D. walking to catch a bus downtown for the evening's Magic event at the downtown store, so they gave him a ride and then they all played Magic for another five hours.
