Day 81: 1000 Steps to the West

This afternoon, I hiked west, 500 steps uphill to Willamette Street then 500 steps up into the neighborhood cemetery - a considerable gain in elevation. Looking west:



Beyond the cemetery there are some houses, then farms and forests and mountains (the Coast Range), and if you keep going for 60 miles, you'd get to the coastal town of Florence, where I was born (population 8,466 - it's grown!). The next major city in this direction would be... Sapporo, Japan.

Bad timing, I think

Isabelle, my agent, says I should be posting in my professional blog and asking friends to "like" and get their friends to "like" in a cascading event that would make my post look very popular. Somehow I don't think that's going to happen this week. All of my FB friends are either posting urgent news of the day or, conversely, photos of flowers and foods and cats - I don't think there's a whole lot of room for receptivity to things that are off-topic.
