So today was going along pretty well, despite the heat, despite the terrible air quality, and despite the abrupt breakage of my current pair of reading glasses. D. and I had picked up the new frames for his glasses; a set of data I'd been waiting for, for weeks, for paper #2 was ready; and paper #3 had reached a temporary stopping point.

But then I went out to look something up on the laptop on the couch, and clumsily slammed my foot into the leg of the very heavy coffee table, which very well may have broken a little bone. The x-ray technician said that she's been reading the charts for 41 years and could tell me for sure if she were allowed to, which she isn't, but the PA said he'd have to send it to the radiologist to find out.

Anyway. When in the first few minutes of intense pain, ice is good, and a very soft cat to cuddle for an endorphin fix is even better. And it's good to have a boyfriend who will leave work immediately to take you to the urgent care. i can walk all right, if I take small and careful steps and use the heel of my left foot to support my weight. Oh, and the junior x-ray technician said that I have tiny baby feet, even though I wear size 9 shoes and can't find slippers I can get my feet into. So that was nice. I'm awfully worn out now, though.
