This is how I spent my Sunday

Today I spent most of my energy on helping J. get ready for the big Magic Pro Tour event he’s doing in two weeks. We did an online prerelease (as we had last night as well), and it was fun to sit next to his TV and read the cards and follow what was happening. I’m pretty sure I contributed usefully a few times, too, like pointing out that the big hydra had “reach” and that “delirium” would give one of his cards “death touch.” After that, we spent a bunch of time looking at deck lists, which our friend Colin had found for him. One of the decks is pretty much like the deck he played to qualify for the pro tour, although instead of dragons it has eldrazi, which are a sort of alien creature.

Now I’m rushing through Sen. Cory Booker’s book, United, which is our book club selection. It’s a pretty quick read, which is good since book club is on Tuesday…
