It’s concert week!
Dec. 8th, 2015 10:46 pmTonight was the winter concert for Junior Orchestra, D’s first as principal clarinet. The only part that made him nervous was playing the tuning pitch for the non-strings sections of the orchestra, which is his sole responsibility. He also had a “solo” in the last piece, “Declaration Overture,” but not technically a solo as the #2 clarinet played it with him – they do it in unison so well that it sounds like one clarinet. We had four guests: J, my sister and her husband, and R. I have to say that D. looked really sharp in his tux, now that we have a nicer white shirt for him, and in his dress shoes he’s a full 5'10!
Tomorrow’s the Youth Symphony, and then Friday will be the concerts for D’s high school band. He’s especially looking forward to the jazz performance, with his new saxophone.
