Migraine be damned?
Mar. 23rd, 2014 11:23 pmThat migraine continues, but my great good fortune is that it’s at an intensity where doing something else can distract me from noticing it. We were able to go buy a new lawn mower, and then later we were able to go out to the Mexican restaurant, even bringing D’s best friend along, and I did all of that fine. We also watched Cosmos and later, Blue Exorcist, and we played a Magic variant called Battle the Horde.
I finally got to meet R’s landlady-housemate today. Her former husband was a prominent political commentator in Oregon for decades, starting in the 1970s, a household name, even (at least for the kind of household I grew up in). She was telling me, though, that nobody will pay him to write any more, even the $50 per column he used to get, despite all of his expertise, because of the way journalism has changed. Reminds me of Doonesbury’s Rick Redfern. She seemed very pleased that I remembered him and that I asked her if she was related to him, though.
