Evangelion 2.22

Sometimes the Saturday night anime on TV is pre-empted by an Evangelion movie, and the one we watched tonight was the second. Better than the first, in that Shinji didn’t whine the whole time and eventually did something for better reasons than to try to win the approval of his father, who seemed to have begotten him just to be his tool. Still, pretty murky, and the big-picture storyline is pretty opaque. The battle scenes with the invading alien “angels” are strangely beautiful.
