I am already pleased with yesterday's decision to write myself a post about things as I read them. "Write a post" has much more positive connotations to me than "take notes," even if the net result is the same. Just one more way to trick myself into productivity! I am now thinking that with my vast leisure time, I may like to reread authors that I once found meaningful and write what I think about them now, like Buber, Eliade, Berlin, Matthew Fox. (Even back then I had reservations about most of these; presumably my critical thoughts are of higher quality now?)

For the "things learned from game shows" files.

The phrase "beer goggles" refers to the effect alcohol has in temporarily improving the physical desirability of others. This formula explains that it is a function of quantity of alcohol consumed, smokiness of the room, visual acuity, and luminescence and distance of the person of interest.

Equinox!

Happy spring, everybody!

Now that Brocelïande has an album for each of the seasons, I'm making a point of listening to each as the new seasons begin. The spring album is my favorite, Gathering May, with songs in English, French, Provençal, medieval Spanish, and Scots Gaelic.

Margaret, depicted on the album cover, is a childhood friend of my friend Z. Click on the album cover for song clips and details:
