After work I renewed some UO library books then drove around south of campus a bit to get more photographic mementos of the fall colors. It was raining and starting to get dark, so I didn't have time to find a ginkgo tree as I'd planned, but I did get a strange one on 20th. There are quite a few trees around that look like they had big scoops taken out of the side to accommodate various sorts of cables, but this is the first I've seen with a scoop taken right out of the middle. Tree on 20th east of Harris:

On the radio they were playing Mendelssohn while I was driving around, which I liked very much. Whatever was on the classical station at that time yesterday didn't appeal at all, so I'd switched to tapes and had fun singing along to The Rutles, a 1978 parody of the Beatles from Monty Python's Eric Idle and Neil Innes (who wasn't a member of the Flying Circus itself but played several roles in the Holy Grail movie; the IMDb lists them as "First Monk/Singing Minstrel/Page Crushed by the Rabbit/Peasant #4," but I mostly remember him as the lead minstrel in Sir Robin's entourage).

J. has logged off already to study for tomorrow's midterm. Imagine, I have to amuse myself for three whole hours. The hardship!
