The dog mood switch

R. went off to the annual trade show in Portland today, leaving Thor at home. He spent most of the day moping on the bed, though occasionally he came out and moped on the livingroom floor for a while. At one point he started barking, we think because the neighbor walked her yippy little dog down the long driveway, but as soon as they were out of earshot he resumed moping.
Then, at 4:49 p.m., someone flipped the dog mood switch from mopey to euphoric! R. was home. I s'pose this is normal for dogs, to be so fixated on one person like that?
