Back to the fair

Today was the free Joan Jett concert at the county fair, and whereas I haven’t exactly maintained a continuous interest in her since 1981, when I was too young to see her at a local nightclub (I tried), I still couldn’t resist. She did a one-hour set and two encore songs. For whatever reason, they didn’t even bother with seating, so it was just a lot of standing in a crowd in front of the stage, with the sun in our eyes. Fun but very tiring. I have to admit, though, that I’d enjoy her more if there were any degree of sophistication in her lyrics.
Also it was fun to get to see the fair exhibits properly: photography, quilts, a Ghostbusters afghan, baked goods including a Plankton-decorated twinkie; goats, sheep, piglets, bunnies, chicken, geese, and the grange displays.
