A neighborhood potluck is a really fantastic way to meet new people, because you already have so much in common. I had so many great conversations! Especially with... the party organizer, the supercomputer expert from India who made fabulous chicken curry and a really compelling guacamole, the Forest Service archaeologist who recently moved in across the street from us, the flyfishing guide in Mongolia (!), and especially the former sociologist who helps midlife women make the transition into college, and her professor-husband.

I can’t get over it – I have a neighbor who is a flyfishing guide in Mongolia, of all places!
