In which we make a new forest friend

eve_primeThis afternoon was amazing, so sunny and warm - 73°! D. has learned that hunting for wildflowers is fun, so he didn't object when I dragged him away from RuneScape for some time in the woods. I was especially pleased when he announced, "I know why it's called a trillium! Three leaves, three parts to the flower!"
On our way back toward the car, D. was skipping ahead, and all at once I called out, "D_ _ _ _! Stay very still, don't move!" Then, oops, I realized in light of recent conversations that I'd better reassure him that it wasn't a mountain lion (or, actually, "bear" was what popped into his head). Here's who we met:
