The "new building" debacle

I spent part of today as a consulting economist, part on my own grant, and quite a bit as the mom of a darling. I hope to be able to resume grad student stuff soon.
Some guy on campus is lobbying very hard against our planned office move, that is, the new building my employer has been planning to build for our offices. He's using really inflammatory language and turning the whole mess into a no-win situation for us. It's pretty difficult to paint us as bad guys, given our work and our mission, but they're making us out as dupes of evil developers. Honestly, at this point I'd think we should just give up, except for the hundreds or thousands of hours that have been invested in the project, and the fact that we'd lose our$2 million $5 million building grant.
