Last night I was too tense to sleep well, plus I had a bit of a stomach ache that still lingers, so it was next to impossible today for me to respond sympathetically when my mom completely manufactured a need for help and then got uncharacteristically belligerent about it. GAH. I can't get through a day without having to deal with her, and I know I don't even have the worst of it, her poor neighbors do.
I am now tempted to hire a second caregiver, to fuss over her for a few hours on the two weekdays that the first caregiver does not. Unfortunately, this would mean a third person I woul have to coordinate with all week long to make sure everyone has all the information about what's going on with her.
She insists she doesn't want a live-in companion, but it may be coming down to that. The second and third bedrooms in the house are tiny, though, and it would be so much work to empty one out, and there are unusual valuables in the house (like Etruscan artifacts and antique bronze platters from India and stuff). Blah.
